The salmonella mostly comes from the outside of the egg- on its shell. Then when you crack the egg open and it drips down the shell on its' way out, it picks up the bacteria. The egg inside is clean and bacteria-free when freshly laid. But think about where the outside of the egg- the shell- has been! It has been laid on a poopy, dirty chicken house floor, full of bacteria.
So, whether your eggs are farm-fresh or store-bought, wash the shell well before cracking open the egg. Wash your hands too. The salmonella and fears of contracting it will both go down the drain.

I just began my regime 2 days ago. I break two eggs in a glass and add milk just to avoid looking at the rawness of the eggs (LOL), but really, I do not gag or anything. I do not taste it so I am fine with that. It feels good after consumption. I developed a bad habit of not eating properly over the years, skipping meals and eating very tiny rations. I am just lucky that I did not fall sick. However, I want to build a healthy eating habit so I decided to follow the eggs and milk drink in the morning. I feel stronger, revitalized, refreshed, satisfied and my appetite is gaining at a faster rate than it did before I decided to try this. Oh, and I sleep better not to mention, my legendary memory has gotten a new spark. If that is just in my head, I like it if not, I like it all the same (LOL).

At least one other thing to mention is that most kinds of raw eating I do draws all kinds of ridiculous in my opinion, warnings. Enough sportsmen and women eat raw eggs as a standard part of their diets that it doesn't seem to have people commenting that I must be weird, which at first I expected might happen.

I have been reading about raw eggs because someone recommended that my father who has atrial fibrilation and just had a stroke consume large quantities of them. Apparently the conatain the amino acid, Taurine, which is actually very good for the heart and particularly atrial fibrilation. Upon sharing this info with my mom, she told me she knew of a man years ago who lived to be 110 years old who ate 10 raw eggs blended with orange juice every day of his life.

I've been using raw eggs for several years now inspired by a guy Aajonus Vonderplanitz! I don't use them to build muscle but they are fantastic for getting back to sleep if ur lying awake. Virtually never fails

I totally agree, raw egg being a complete meal(with all the nutrients and vitamins)really makes sense that it should be taken as a whole otherwise, when you heat, beat, blend or cook it , it just alters its entire chemistry. Growing up , I know in the past that a lot of people would take them raw and are safe until these recent times when people are exaggerating its negativity unfortunately.

Josh-

It still is a bit scary. I used to love mixing raw eggs with milk and adding sugar and vanilla - a eggnog drink. But I have become a bit concerned about the health consequences. kind of like rolling the dice. I see what you are saying about the odds but - I don't know.
